Caring for Carers
A carer is any individual who provides care and support to a family member or friend who has a disability, mental illness, drug and/or alcohol dependency, chronic condition, terminal illness or who is frail. We support the health and wellbeing of all carers and our goal is to provide them with holistic services, tools and support they need to keep caring. Our 'Caring for Carers' campaign provides 1:1 and group programs that target the needs of carers to better support their physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. The role of a carer can be due to short or long term circumstances which can impact their own health and wellbeing. The Zen Org. uses these funds to meet the individual needs of a carer when address the challenges they are currently faced with alongside providing practical holistic tools to support them on going. Across NSW there are approximately 904,400 carers (ABS, 2015) and for many it becomes a full time job which means they forfeit the ability to work and earn money to support their needs. Often self care takes a back seat due to financial circumstances and taking the time so we aim to address these through what and how we provide our services.
